| Answer: | We have a Youth Council which is continuing to grow. We are seeking youth input and advice as much as we can in the development of our resources. There is unlimited opportunity for youth to be involved in the development of the New Lamplight. |
| Question: | What opportunities are there to volunteer with the New Lamplight? |
| Answer: | The opportunities to become a volunteer – a ‘Lamplighter’ are endless. We do insist that our volunteers are Police screened for the tasks they undertake with the New Lamplight. |
| Question: | If I donated to the New Lamplight, where would the money go and how would I be assured that it would be used wisely? |
| Answer: | The New Lamplight subscribes to very high standards of ethics as set out by Imagine – the Centre for Philanthropy in Toronto. These are national and international standards to which most centre of fund development excellence are in accord. Lamplight has an experienced management team well able to account for funds received. |
| Question: | Does the New Lamplight solicit funds by telephone canvassing or door to door campaigns? |
| Answer: | No |
| Question: | How much of every dollar raised actually goes directly to service delivery through the New Lamplight’s programs? |
| Answer: | Approximately 85 cents in every dollar raised goes directly into programs. |
| Question: | The New Lamplight appears to have a lot of goodwill and benefits from a lot of services provided in kind – how much does that match the funds raised? |
| Answer: | Our service in kind rockets way beyond our funding base right now – to the tune of around $3million value of service received in kind. Without our corporate and community sponsors we would not be able to do what we do. This figure is calculated from service in kind help received from corporate and community sponsors in Canada, the USA, the UK and New Zealand. |
